Santa Catarina Island (Portuguese: Ilha de Santa Catarina) is an island in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. It is located on the south coast of Brazil between the south 27° latitude and west 48° longitude. The island is approximately 54 km long (North-South) and 18 km wide (East-West) at its widest point in the north of the island, with a total area of 424.4 km², It is the site of the state capital Florianópolis as well as numerous beach resorts, such as Jurerê Intenacional, Santinho, Canasvieiras and Cachoeira do Bom Jesus.
